Demonstration Class with the Frescoes Updated 7 January 2010
The Griffin Museum of Photography has scheduled Glenna to do one of their Senior Sunday classes on February 7. (Hint: You don't have to be a Senior to attend!) Class starts at 3:00pm. Glenna will be making one of her new fresco pieces in the class. And participants will probably get to play with one of Glenna's favorite funky lenses. This should be fun. Admission is free, but you must RSVP to the Griffin Museum by February 1. All the details of their Winter programs and exhibits (including Glenna's solo show) are in the brochure that you can download
here. Or see the Griffin's
website.
Also, the opening reception for Glenna's show at the Griffin Museum Aberjona River Gallery will be February 2, from 6:00pm to 7:30.
RSVP to the Griffin Museum by January 26.
New Web Host Updated 1 January 2010
You are seeing Glenna's web site from a new host. Please let us know if you find
anything that is not working properly. And look for new features in the coming weeks.
Seacoast Fine Art & Gift Market Updated 28 November 2009
Glenna added this show several weeks ago, but we have been slow getting it on the web site.
It looks like a fun time with lots of options for holiday shopping, some classes,
Christmas trees and wreaths, the Arbor Inn Bakery and Abercrombie & Fitch all on site.
Glenna will have both her classic photography and the new frescoes, with lots
of small sizes that make great gifts. Come on out to
shop Glenna's work along with lots of other artists.
Cape Cod Arts Festival Updated 28 August 2009
We have been anxiously watching tropical storm Danny. It will be producing lots of rain and wind
in Hyannis so the festival has been cancelled for Saturday.
But, the Sunday schedule is still on!
We will be setting up early on Sunday and the weather forecast looks good. So come on out Sunday to
see Glenna's work on the Great Lawn along with 90 other artists.
Firefly Bistro Updated 13 August 2009
Firefly will be hosting an opening reception for a showing of Glenna's work in the restaurant.
Come out to see Glenna and her photography on Monday, August 17 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Firefly is in the recently renovated building at 22 Concord Street in downtown Manchester, NH.
We look forward to seeing our friends there!
Cambridge Art Association Updated 17 July 2009
Glenna has recently been admitted to the Cambridge Art Association.
This organization
has a juried admission process and 500 artist members. The organization was begun in 1944.
Glenna has three pieces in their
Art Fair Show at the University Place Gallery.
Wine Studio Exhibit Extended
Updated 10 January 2009
Glenna has had an exhibit of her work hanging at the Wine Studio store in
Londonderry, New Hampshire
through the past month of December.
The show has been extended through the month of January.
So if you weren't able to get there between
holiday events, ice storms, and power outages,
you can see it this month. The Wine Studio is at:
The Wine Studio
at Mr. Steer's Marketplace
27 Buttrick Road, #3
Londonderry, NH 03053
First Show for the New Medium
Updated 31 July 2008
This week, Glenna got an acceptance from the annual Bruce Museum Outdoor Arts Festival.
This is significant because it is one of the first times she has submitted the new work
for jury review.
The festival, on October 11 and 12, will be her first show completely based upon the new work.
Glenna will be quite busy between now and then producing enough work to fill her tent.
The ladder picture is one of the pieces submitted to the festival jury.
"It's The Economy..."
Updated 18 July 2008
Glenna and Mark are just back from the annual Wickford Art Fair in North Kingstown, RI.
This year, Glenna has been staying pretty local except for the largest, most successful
art fairs. It has been a smart choice.
And, we're home a lot earlier and fewer travel days gives Glenna more time
to spend on
her new work (see the article below). At Wickford, the sponsoring artist
organization always
takes record photographs of exhibiting artists. Here is Glenna's picture.
New Work, New Media
Updated 7 June 2008
Glenna has been exploring a new media!
After dozens of experiments, a few
workshops, and a portfolio class, a new body of work is born.
Glenna showed a
few prototypes to other artists and a show promoter in May.
Another round of new
pieces will be making the trip to Chicago next week.
Come by the Wells Street
Art Fair in Chicago on Friday or Saturday, June 14 and 15, to see them.
Glenna
will have her usual work on display near North Avenue and Wells Street
in the
same booth location as the past couple of years.
She will also have a handful of
examples of her new work.
What's the new media? Fresco. Glenna is working with interesting techniques that put her photographs into a cast marble material. The result looks aged and full of character. It works very well with a new series of intriguing moody images. The images of books and windows here are samples of the new media that will be in her booth in Chicago. Glenna is looking forward to feedback on these new works, so be sure to come by, have a look, and tell her what you think.
Life on the Road: Chance
Meeting in the Everglades
Updated 14 April 2007
Earlier this year,
Glenna and Mark spent 10 days in Florida for art fairs in West Palm Peach and Naples.
After relaxing in Miami, we were making the trip across the Everglades on
Route 41 in Glenna's Sprinter.
As we pulled into a park facility, Glenna said, "We should park next to that
other Sprinter just for fun."
Mark said, "That looks like Greg's Sprinter from San Francisco."
Just then we were close enough to see the door open and Glenna exclaimed, "It is Greg!"
Fellow photographer Greg Gawlowski was in Florida between art fairs too.
None of us had hotel
reservations that night so ended up at the same hotel in Everglades City
and enjoyed a nice dinner together.
You can see Greg's wonderful travel photography at
www.fourseasonspress.com.
New Series of Musical
Instruments
Updated 18 November
2006
Glenna has been working through the summer
and fall on the beginning of a new body of work. She has started applying many
of the same techniques to an exploration of the world of music. The first images
are from a guitar, banjo and mandolin. Check back to see this series expand with
brass and woodwinds. Drop her a note to let her know how you like them.
Glenna's West Coast Trip
Updated 9 July 2006
We just can't keep Glenna away from the West
Coast. She will close out the month of July with an appearance at one of our
favorite art fairs, Bellevue's Festival of the Arts, in Bellevue, Washington.
Then it's down to to the Sea Ranch Lodge to hang her third exhibit there. Off to
Park City, Utah for the Kimball Arts Festival on August 5 and 6. We'll get to
catch up with some of our favorite artist friends there. The opening reception
at the Sea Ranch Lodge will be the evening of August 11. Finally, the only San
Francisco Bay area art fair this year is the Burlingame Art and Jazz Festival on
August 12 and 13.
Glenna's Work is in
